Clutch cable adjustment
The clutch cable must be adjusted periodically to compensate for loosening due to worn clutch parts.
With a properly adjusted clutch, the free play of the clutch pedal should be 15-20 mm, and the free play of the clutch release lever on the gearbox should be 6 mm. The clutch cable is adjusted from the side of the gearbox.
On 1.1 and 1.3 liter engines, to adjust the clutch, loosen the lock nut and, turning the adjusting nut at the end of the cable, achieve the desired pedal free play, and then tighten the lock nut again (Ah, fig. A:18).
On 1.5, 1.6 and 1.8 liter engines, the plastic adjustment disc is mounted on the cable sheath and is also fixed with a lock nut (B, fig. A:18) Loosen the lock nut, slide the disc to provide the necessary free play, and tighten the lock nut again.
After adjustment, press the clutch pedal several times, and then measure its free play again. Lubricate the cable and threads of the adjusting nut with multipurpose grease.
