- clean the surfaces of the cylinder head and cylinder block and position the cylinder head gasket so that the lettering is visible from above «Oben» or «Top». Always install a new gasket that matches this part number;

Pic. 125. The sequence of tightening the cylinder head bolts
- for the correct positioning of the gasket in the places of fastening of bolts No. 8 and 10 (pic. 125) two guide pins 3070 must be inserted on the cylinder block (pic. 124). If they are not available, insert guide pins into the corresponding holes in the cylinder head;
- install the cylinder head and tap it with a plastic or rubber mallet. To prevent the valves from hitting the bottom of the pistons, set the piston of the first cylinder to the TDC position and turn the crankshaft against the direction of rotation by 90°. Due to this, all pistons will be located below the TDC position. Install the cylinder head only in this position of the crankshaft;
- insert eight cylinder head bolts and tighten them by hand;
- unscrew the guide pins 3070 and replace them with the remaining cylinder head bolts;
- according to the sequence shown in Fig. 125, gradually tighten all the cylinder head bolts, first to 40 Nm and finally to 60 Nm; in the indicated order, insert the key into each bolt, remembering the position of the wrench, and tighten each bolt in one go exactly half a turn or twice a quarter turn;
- insert the key into each fastening bolt, remembering the position of the knob and in accordance with the sequence (pic. 125), tighten each bolt exactly one quarter turn at a time;
- repeat this passage in the same way one more time;
Note. In order not to damage the cylinder head bolts when tightening, use only a special multi-sided wrench that looks like a hexagon.

Details of the upper part of the cylinder head: 1 - bolt, 16 Nm; 2 - central cover (above the top of the intake manifold); 3 - oil filler cap; 4 - nut, 10 Nm; 5 - stiffener; 6 - cylinder head cover; 7 - oil deflector; 8 - a bolt of fastening of a head of the block of cylinders; 9 - cylinder head cover gasket; 10 - cylinder head; 11 - cylinder head gasket; 12 - lifting eye; 13 - camshaft gear; 14 - plug; 15 - from the crankcase ventilation system; 16 - T-shaped fitting; 17 - O-ring (always a substitute)
- stick gasket 9 (pic. 105) cylinder head covers on the cylinder head;
Attention! Always install a new seal. Pay attention to the correct installation of the gasket to avoid oil leakage.
- put on the cylinder head cover. To the left and right of the cylinder head cover, put reinforcement on the locating pins and tighten the nuts evenly around the circle with a torque of 10 Nm;
- carry out the remaining operations in the reverse order of removal, guided by the assembly drawings;
- after completing all operations, fill the liquid into the cooling system.
