Pull the safety mechanism on the shift cable and selector cable forward until it stops in the direction of arrow 1 and then lock it with a tilt to the left in the direction of arrow 2 (Fig. 3.50).

Fixing the gear shift shaft

Press the shift shaft down (arrow direction 1) (Fig. 3.49).

While pressing on the shift shaft, turn corner A in the direction of arrow 2 upwards and at the same time gently press it inwards until it snaps into place on the shift shaft.

Remove and install the cuff with the switch button and, if available, the noise insulation.

After this, secure the gear shift lever as follows.

Set the gearshift lever to idle mode.

Insert the retainer through hole A into hole B (Fig. 3.51).

After this, turn the safety mechanism on the shift cable and on the selector cable to the right until it stops (direction of the arrow) (Fig. 3.50).

The spring will return the safety mechanism to its original position.

After this, return corner A to its original position (direction of the arrow) (Fig. 3.49).

Remove the retainer from holes A and B (Fig. 3.51).

Remove and install the cuff with the switch button and noise insulation.

Install the air cleaner housing assembly if it was removed.

Functioning

The gear shift lever should be in the 3/4th gear position when idling.

Engage the clutch.

Go through all the gears several times. Pay particular attention to the operation of the reverse gear lock.

If the gear sticks when repeatedly engaging the gears, the shift drive needs to be adjusted again.
