External inspection for tightness:
- master cylinder, working cylinder, pipe-hose line, inlet hose, connections (plug and threaded) in all, including hidden, places.
A sign of external leakage, among other things, are traces of leaks, for example, on a noise-insulating cover under the gearbox.
Check the laying of pipes and hose lines (check the fasteners of the highways). The pipe-hose line must not be bent or pinched.
Pedal return must not be hindered by displaced or additional floor mats.
Step on the pedal. At the same time, throughout the pedal stroke in 5 different places, hold the pedal for approximately 20 seconds (checking the hydraulic system at various pressures). In this case, the assistant must check for leaks in the places indicated in paragraph 2.
Remove the slave cylinder and check the cuff for resistance to brake fluid.
If the check on all points did not reveal any problems and there is a conclusion on point 6, replace the working cylinder.
Note: On gearboxes where the slave cylinder is made as a single unit with a release bearing, the gearbox must be removed.
