Verification conditions
The coolant temperature must be at least 85°C.
The pump injectors must be in good working order.
The fuel filter and fuel lines must be free of clogs.
Work execution procedure
Remove the engine cover.
Unscrew the plug.

Connect the pressure gauge for the tandem pump as shown in Figure 2.336.
Start the engine and let it idle.
Connect the tester and select the operating mode "Fahrzeug-Eigendiagnose/Self-diagnosis mode".
Press the "01 – Motorelektronik/ 01 – engine electronics" button on the touch screen.
Press the diagnostic function "08 – Read measured value blocks/ 08 – Read measured value blocks".
Use the numbers on the keyboard to set the instrument group "1" and confirm the entry with the Q button.
Read the engine speed in the display field "1".
Increase engine speed to 4000 min⁻¹.
Observe the pressure gauge readings.
Nominal value not less than 7.5 bar.
If the specified value is not reached, clamp the fuel return line tube between the fuel filter and the tandem type pump using a hose clamp.
Increase engine speed to 4000 min⁻¹.
Observe the pressure gauge readings.
Nominal value not less than 10.5 bar
If the set value is not reached, there is a pressure loss at the pump injectors.
Replace the O-rings on the unit injectors.

If the specified value is not achieved, replace the tandem pump.
Note: After disconnecting the measuring device, tighten the plug to a torque of 25 N·m. Replace the sealing ring.
