1 – Outdoor lighting switch

The headlights only light when the ignition is on. When the engine is started and after the ignition is turned off, they automatically switch to parking lights.

If, after removing the key from the ignition switch, the lights remain on, a buzzer-type signal will sound when the driver's door is open.

Fog lights

Pull the exterior lighting switch in the parking light or low/high beam positions to the first detent position.

Rear fog lights

Turn the exterior lighting switch to the low/high beam position and pull it out as far as it will go.

Cars with fog lights

Pull the exterior lighting switch to the parking light or low/high beam position to the second detent position.

When the rear fog lights are on, the indicator lamp on the instrument cluster lights up.

Due to the strong glare produced by rear fog lights, they should only be switched on in poor visibility.

The factory-installed trailer towing equipment is wired so that when a trailer is operated with rear fog lights, the vehicle's rear fog lights are automatically turned off.

2 – Backlighting of control instruments

When the external lighting is on, the brightness of the instrument lighting is smoothly adjusted using a dial located next to the external lighting switch.

3 – Headlight range adjuster

The electric adjustment mechanism allows for smooth adjustment of the headlight beam angle according to the vehicle load. This reduces the risk of blinding oncoming drivers. At the same time, the correct installation of the headlights provides the driver with better visibility.

The process of installing headlights can only be carried out with the low beam on.

To lower the light cone, turn the control dial downwards from its original position (–).

4 – Rear window heating

The heating only functions when the ignition is on. When the heating is on, the control lamp in the switch lights up.

On vehicles with electrically adjustable exterior mirrors, the mirror surface heating is switched on simultaneously with the rear window heating.

5 – Emergency signaling

The hazard warning lights also function when the ignition is off.

Turn on your hazard warning lights when, for example:

Your car has stopped due to a technical malfunction;
You have been involved in a traffic accident;
You have reached the end of the traffic jam.

When the hazard warning lights are on, all the direction indicators flash simultaneously. The direction indicator indicator lights and the indicator light in the switch also flash.

6 – Left seat heating

The seat back and cushion can be heated electrically when the ignition is on.

Heating is switched on using a disk switch-regulator; they also smoothly regulate the heating intensity.

To turn off the heating, turn the control dial to its original position (–).

7 – Right seat heating

The seat back and cushion can be heated electrically when the ignition is on.

The heating is switched on by the corresponding rotary switch-regulator; it also smoothly regulates the heating intensity.

8 – Traction control system with engine torque reduction ASR

The traction control system with engine torque reduction prevents the drive wheels from slipping during acceleration on all-wheel drive vehicles by reducing engine power. The system operates in the entire speed range in conjunction with the anti-lock braking system. If there is a malfunction in the ABS, the system does not function. The traction control system is activated automatically when the engine is started. It can be switched on and off at will by pressing a switch. When the system is switched off, the ASR indicator lamp lights up.

Normally the system should always be switched on. Only in certain exceptional cases, when wheel slip is desired, is it preferable to switch the system off.

For example, when driving with anti-skid chains, when driving through deep snow or on loose ground, when rocking a stuck vehicle.

After passing such sections, it is necessary to turn on the traction control system again.

To ensure trouble-free operation of the traction control system, it is necessary that all wheels are equipped with identical tires. Different tire running distances can lead to an undesirable decrease in engine power.

8 – Electronic stabilization system ESP

The electronic stabilization system increases the degree of control over the vehicle dynamics in extreme situations, such as when driving on sharp turns. The electronic system allows for an expansion of the scope of the anti-lock braking system and traction control systems and reduces the likelihood of skidding and drifting of the vehicle under all road conditions. The system operates in the entire range of vehicle speeds together with the anti-lock braking system. If the anti-lock braking system fails, the electronic stabilization system also stops working. This system is activated automatically when the engine is started. You can turn off this system together with the traction control system with engine torque limitation by pressing a switch.

When the stabilization system is switched off, the indicator lamp for this system lights up.
