Note. This operation is performed in case of replacement of the clutch housing or gearbox housing, differential box or roller bearings.
Press the outer races of the bearings into the housings without the adjusting ring as far as they will go. Install the differential into the clutch housing. Attach gearbox housing to clutch housing. screw in five bolts securing the gearbox housing and tighten them to a torque of 2.5 kgf·m.
Fasten the rack with the indicator to the crankcase and install the indicator leg on the differential box.
By moving the differential up and down in the axial direction and not allowing it to rotate, so that the bearings do not self-align, note the indicator readings. The required shim thickness is determined by the amount of axial movement of the differential on the gauge plus a constant preload of 0.40 mm.
The adjusting rings are 0.65 to 1.25 mm thick in 0.05 mm intervals. Remove the differential and press the bearing outer race out of the clutch housing housing. Install an adjusting ring of the required thickness in the socket of the clutch housing, press in the outer ring of the bearing, lubricate the differential bearings with gear oil, install the differential, connect the gearbox housing to the clutch housing. Check the moment of resistance to rotation of the differential bearings, which should be 0.12-0.35 kgf·m for new bearings and 0.03 kgf·m for used bearings.
