Some vehicles are equipped with an on-board computer, the monitor of which is located under the coolant temperature and fuel level indicator.

The following data is displayed on the computer monitor:
  • time in hours and minutes:
  • trip duration with clock face symbol;
  • average fuel consumption with the symbol "1/100 km";
  • distance traveled with the symbol "km";
  • engine oil temperature with burette symbol and°C;
  • outside air temperature with a symbol in the form of a sun and°C.

The computer control switches are located on the windshield wiper switch lever (fig. 8-17).

When you press the "B" key briefly, the listed information is displayed on the monitor in the specified order. When you press the key again for more than 1 second, the listed information on the monitor is replaced by a time display.

The computer has two storage devices:
  • Current information memory (monitor display: "MFA 1");
  • summing memory (monitor indication: "MFA 2").

To select the information to be displayed, switch "A" is moved to position "1" and "2" respectively.

The current information memory contains data from the moment the ignition is turned on until the end of the ride and the ignition is turned off. If the ride lasts less than 2 hours, the information continues to be recorded even after the ignition is turned off.

If there is a break of more than 2 hours between stopping the car and continuing to drive, the recorded information is erased.

The total values are recorded in the summing memory until the total driving time reaches 100 hours, the total distance traveled reaches 10,000 km, and the amount of fuel consumed reaches 1,000 l. After exceeding the specified values, the data is erased and re-recorded.

After 2 hours of parking, the data from the summing memory is not erased.

NOTE: The engine oil temperature is indicated within the range of 50-160°C. Wait until the temperature display appears on the monitor before increasing the engine speed. When the oil temperature reaches 145°C, reduce the engine speed.

The outside air temperature is indicated within the range from -40 to +50°C. When the vehicle is parked or moving at low speed, the outside air temperature readings may be slightly higher than the actual temperature due to the engine's thermal radiation. The outside air temperature readings cannot be used to determine the possibility of ice formation, since ice can form even at temperatures above 0°C.

Data on oil and outside air temperature are one-time and are not entered into the memory.

[The information is presented on the website: www.VWMANUAL.ru]

The time on the digital clock is set by pressing two buttons 12 (fig. 1).
