The generator is either an alternating current generator or a direct current generator with a voltage and charging current regulator. The generator is driven from the engine crankshaft by a V-belt.
The most important consumers of electrical current in a car:
- starter;
- ignition system;
- lighting and light signaling devices;
- windshield wipers;
- instruments on the dashboard;
- sound signal;
- interior lighting;
- additional electrical equipment: rear window defroster, fan, radio, etc.

Interior instruments include a speedometer, fuel gauge, trip meter and indicator lights (emergency oil pressure, battery charging, high beam headlights and turn signals).
The ignition system consists of an ignition coil, a distributor, high-voltage wires and spark plugs.
Fuses protecting the most important electrical circuits are collected in one block, which is located on the left under the instrument panel.
