Diesel engine with gas turbine supercharging
An additional coolant pump is installed in the cooling system of the supercharged diesel engine next to the gearbox housing (arrow).
The pump turns on after the engine is stopped at a coolant temperature above + 107°C and maintains the circulation of the liquid. This eliminates, above all, overheating in the area of the turbocharger.
When starting the engine (while the starter is running) this pump is also switched on in order to prevent its defect due to long periods of inactivity (e.g. in winter).
