Removing
Disconnect the spark plug wires and ignition coil wire from the ignition distributor.
Unfasten the spring clips and remove the cover of the sensor-distributor.
Disconnect the ignition switch connector.
Remove the ignition distributor rotor.
Remove the distributor housing flange.
Remove the ignition distributor.
Installation
Turn the engine crankshaft to the position corresponding to the TDC of the piston of the 1st cylinder, aligning the mark on the camshaft pulley with the upper plane of the cylinder head cover gasket.
Make sure that there is a cardboard gasket on the bearing surface of the ignition distributor on the cylinder head.
Install the ignition distributor rotor.
Install the ignition distributor sensor in place, making sure that the rotor spacer plate is directed towards the mark on the housing, which corresponds to the TDC of the end of the compression stroke of the piston of the 1st cylinder, and is facing the camshaft drive.
Replace the flange and tighten the lock nut.
Replace the cover of the ignition distributor, making sure that there are no cracks or dirt on it.
Connect the high voltage wires and connect the connector of the ignition distributor.
Set ignition timing.
Setting the ignition timing
To adjust the ignition timing, a stroboscope and a control tachometer are used.
Connect the stroboscope and tachometer in accordance with the operating instructions.
Start the engine, leave it to idle.
Direct a flashing stream of strobe light into the hatch of the clutch housing. If the ignition timing is set correctly, then the alignment mark on the flywheel should be opposite the protrusion on the clutch cover. To adjust the ignition timing, loosen the lock nut of the distributor sensor flange and, turning the distributor sensor housing, align the marks.
Tighten the lock nut securing the ignition distributor flange.
