Place a container under the engine to collect the coolant and drain the coolant from the cooling system by disconnecting the radiator outlet hose from the thermostat housing pipe and opening the expansion tank cap.
Disconnect the fuel supply hose from the fuel pump and the fuel drain hose from the carburetor and close the hose openings with plugs.
Remove the alternator drive belt.
Remove the upper timing belt cover.
Loosen the tension roller axle mounting nut and remove the camshaft drive belt.
Remove the generator tension bar and move the generator away from the engine.
Remove the air filter.
Disconnect the electrical wires from the carburetor and disconnect the carburetor plug connectors.
Disconnect the throttle cable and vacuum hoses from the carburetor.
Remove the intake manifold.
Unscrew the flange of the muffler inlet pipe from the exhaust manifold.
Remove the exhaust manifold.
Disconnect the high voltage wire harness and remove the spark plugs.
Disconnect the cooling system hoses from the cylinder head that go to the radiator and heater.
Remove the cylinder head cover.
Loosen the cylinder head mounting bolts.
Remove the cylinder head.
Clean the removed parts and determine their condition by visual inspection. Use special cleaning agents to clean the mating surfaces of the cylinder head. Do not use scratch-producing objects or abrasive materials for these purposes.

7 — oil filler plug.
