Removal
Remove the lower instrument panel trim.
Remove the lower steering shaft together with the elastic coupling.
Use a clamp to close off the drain hose 1 of the hydraulic system between the valve and the reservoir of the power steering pump.
Unscrew the high pressure hose nipple 2 from the steering gear housing.
Remove the coupling.
Unscrew the drain hose nipple, acting from inside the passenger compartment.
Loosen the bolt securing the steering gear to the left wheel housing.
Unscrew the nuts from the mounting studs and disconnect the steering rods from the steering gear.
Turn the wheels all the way to the left.
Loosen the nut and bolt securing the steering gear housing to the front body shield.
Turn the wheels to the right and remove the steering gear, moving it between the left suspension arm and the wheel housing.
Installation
The steering gear is installed in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:

- secure the steering gear to the front body shield and wheel housing without tension;
- when connecting the drain hose, install new sealing rings;
- install the lower steering shaft with the flexible coupling, pushing the shaft until it stops on the drive pinion shaft;
- bring the oil level in the power steering pump reservoir to normal;
- remove air from the power steering system.
