No special tools or devices are required.
Materials needed: timing belt, if you need to replace the old one.
Examination
1. Release the clamps of the upper timing belt cover and remove the cover.
2. Inspect the timing belt. Pay particular attention to the following defects:

- A - cracks and transverse fractures on the upper side of the belt;
- B - lateral abrasion;
- C - breaks, fraying of the base cord;
- D - cracks on the working surface of the belt;
- E - cord separation;
- F - traces of grease and oil.
If the above defects are detected, the timing belt must be replaced with a new one (see illustration).

3. Reinstall the upper part of the timing cover.
