Special tools and fixtures are not required.
Materials needed: toothed belt, if you need to replace the old one.
Examination
1. Unclench the brackets of the upper timing belt cover and remove the cover.
2. Inspect the toothed belt. In doing so, pay particular attention to the following defects:
- A - cracks and transverse fractures on the upper side of the belt;
- B - lateral abrasion;
- C - breaks, fraying of the warp cord;
- D - cracks on the working surface of the belt;
- E - cord separation;
- F - traces of grease and oil.
If these defects are found, the toothed belt must be replaced with a new one (see illustration).
3. Replace the upper part of the protective cover of the gas distribution mechanism.
