Warning: The operations for removing the 1.4/1.6-I engine are the same as for engines 1.8/ 1.9/ 2.3-I. This section contains only operations related to 1.4/1.6-I engines.
Execution order
1. Support the engine using a crane using the lugs attached to the cylinder head and cylinder block.
2. Using a screwdriver blade as a lever, remove the operating rod (1) from the guide (2), then remove the locking ring (3) and the console lever (4) by pulling it upwards. Turn the rod (5) with the vibration damper clockwise and remove it from the console lever. Move the rod with the vibration damper upwards and remove it from the support (6).
3. Using a screwdriver blade, disconnect the long transmission control lever rods from the guides (arrows). Unscrew the gearshift knob (1) from the transmission. Unscrew the bolts (2) and remove the shift console (3) with the connecting rods and gearshift knob.
4. Remove the clutch slave cylinder hose from the clamps.

5. Unscrew the two bolts securing the clutch slave cylinder. Remove the clutch slave cylinder and, without disconnecting the hose from it, secure it to the body.
