Precautions when working with the charger (VW Golf 3)

Before carrying out any work with the charger, it is imperative to remember the following safety precautions.

Never disconnect the battery or voltage regulator while the engine and correspondingly the vehicle's alternator are running.

Never allow excitation terminals to come into contact (field terminals) car generator and the cable with the housing attached to it.

Never swap both voltage regulator wires.

Never turn on the voltage regulator if it is connected to the case (immediate damage).

Never disassemble a car generator without first disconnecting the battery from the electrical circuit.

When installing the battery, make sure that the negative terminal is connected to the body.

Never use a lamp directly connected to the main electrical network for testing (110 or 220 V). Use only a test lamp rated for 12 V.

If the battery built into the vehicle is charged using a charger, both battery cables must be disconnected. Connect the positive terminal of the charger to the positive pole of the battery, and the negative terminal to the negative pole of the battery.

Incorrect connection of wires leads to breakdown of the rectifier and voltage regulator.
