2. Working inside the vehicle, loosen the bolts securing the gear selector lever housing to the console, lift the housing up along the lever and tilt it to the side.
3. Lift the safety clamp (locking washer). securing the gear selector cable to the gear selector mechanism and disconnect the cable.
4. The cable can now be removed.
5. Install the gear selector cable in the reverse order of disassembly. Lubricate the ends of the cable before connecting. Use a new safety washer to connect the cable to the gear selector mechanism. Before tightening the cable clamp nut on the gearbox lever, make adjustments.
6. To adjust the gear selector cable, set the gear selector lever to the "P" position and move the selector lever from the rear of the gearbox toward the limiter to the corresponding "P" position. Check that the cable is not broken or bent in any place. Then tighten the clamp nut.
