The automatic transmission is a three-speed planetary gear transmission incorporating two multi-plate clutches, one multi-plate brake and one brake band. A hydrokinetic clutch transfers the drive from the engine. The transmission has three forward speeds and one reverse speed. The transmission is equipped with a device for reducing the speed during sharp acceleration, such as during overtaking. Due to the complex design, it is suggested to perform only the operations described below. If the vehicle must be towed due to a malfunction of the automatic transmission, first read the notes regarding precautions for towing included under the towing item at the beginning of this manual.
