Therefore, in the cold season it is better to use all-weather oil, which, on the one hand. ensures reliable starting of the engine in cold weather, and on the other hand, guarantees good lubrication when driving on the motorway at full speed. In the warm season, it is enough to use seasonal oil.
Special oils
Special oils or oils that help save fuel are more expensive than conventional all-weather oils. Special lubricants, which are very fluid when cold, during the warm-up phase of the engine and over short distances, reduce the internal friction in the engine. It can be recognized that the real savings in fuel consumption is about 3%.
Synthetic oils
The most expensive lubricants for engines are synthetic oils. Conventional mineral oil is composed of hydrocarbon compounds of varying structure and length. Synthetic oils contain synthetic chemical compounds made from carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Only those molecules are selected that can optimally provide engine lubrication. In practice, this means that synthetic oils (as opposed to mineral) age much more slowly, evaporate less quickly and are highly stable, i.e. they retain their original viscosity grade for a long time. These oils have optimal lubricating properties and provide extra cleanliness inside the engine.
Instruction. Special and synthetic engine oils must meet API CF. This specification is on the can of oil. This kind of lubricating oil can be used at external temperatures between -20 and +30 degrees Celsius. When replacing oil with a special or synthetic one, in most cases, its consumption is higher.
