The following rule of thumb applies: for joints and joints with narrow bores where grease cannot penetrate (lithol), it is better to use liquid oil or lubricant in an aerosol can. Friction surfaces are better lubricated with grease.
Doors and trunk lid
Door hinges do not require maintenance. However, there will be no harm if they are slightly lubricated with liquid oil. Wipe off dripping oil.
For door locks and the trunk lid lock, it is best to use silicone paste or aerosol lubricant.
Door catches that prevent doors from opening too wide are lubricated with a small amount of grease or silicone paste.
Locks
In winter, the trunk lid lock is especially often damaged. It can be blocked by dirt and salt crystals. Then in most cases you have to put a new lock. But it is better to carry out preventive care.
Before the start of the cold season, the key slot in all locks should be treated with an anti-corrosion aerosol. It will lubricate, displace moisture and protect against corrosion as well as freezing in winter.
In winter, it is recommended to periodically repeat this treatment.
Gun grease is also suitable for lubricating door locks. Inject with an old syringe for injections of 0.5 cc.
To lubricate the moving parts of the door lock, it is best to use an aerosol lubricant or silicone paste. These types of lubricants do not leave stains on body panels
Engine hood
Have an assistant pull the engine hood release lever. Lubricate the place where the cable comes out of the sheath with a small amount of oil; repeatedly moving the lever, lubricate the shell.
Lubricate engine hood latch, hood latch and hook shaft with a small amount of grease or aerosol grease.
The engine hood hinge pins are lubricated with oil or grease in an aerosol can.
Suitable for lubricating the engine hood locking brace is engine oil, grease or aerosol lubricant | Engine oil is used to lock the engine hood |
