Dust caps for tie rods and axle joints (VW Transporter T4)

Examination

1. Place the front of the car on a stand.


2. Shine a light on the right and left dust caps and check for damage, paying attention to traces of grease on the seals and around them (arrows).

3. Replace the damaged dust cap together with the joint, as the dirt that has penetrated will soon render the old joint inoperative.

4. Check the tightness of the hinge nuts. Do not tighten the nuts.
