- open-end wrench for air bleed screws;
- brake fluid specification FMVSS 116 DOT 4.
Brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air through the pores of the brake hoses and the air outlet of the expansion tank. Therefore, the boiling point of the brake fluid drops over time. During sudden braking, this can lead to the formation of steam bubbles in the brake pipes and the operation of the brake system will be seriously impaired.
Change the brake fluid every 2 years, preferably in the spring. When driving in the mountains, change the brake fluid more often.
Replacing the brake fluid is described in subsection 7.13.
Pay attention to safety precautions when handling brake fluid. Dispose of old brake fluid at local special waste collection points.
