Tires on balanced wheels, when operated at the prescribed air pressure, with perfect adjustment and flawless operation of the shock absorbers, wear evenly along the entire length of the tread. In case of uneven wear, see the diagnostics of faults in subsection 8.9.

It is impossible to give a firm conclusion about the service life of tires of a particular brand, since it depends on many factors:
  • road surface;
  • tire pressure;
  • driving manners;
  • weather conditions.

Attention! Sporty driving, abrupt starting and abrupt braking have a strong impact on tire wear.

Tread pattern

Tread pattern

If the tread wear is approaching the minimum legal depth, this means that if there is no more tread pattern remaining on the wear indicators located along the entire length of the tread at a depth of 1.6 mm, then these tires must be replaced.

Attention! S M tires work effectively in conditions of sticky mud and snow with a tread depth of at least 4 mm.

Attention! Check the tires for cuts and measure the depth of the cuts with a screwdriver. If the cuts affect the cord, the steel belt rusts due to moisture. Depending on the circumstances, the tread comes off the cord and the tire breaks. Therefore, if the tread is cut deeply, based on safety conditions, the tires must be replaced.
