Tire condition check
Attention: If defects are found, check whether the tire needs to be replaced.
Check the tire tread and sidewall for damage, if necessary, remove foreign objects such as nails or splinters.
Check the tires for uneven wear on only one side of the tread, sidewall porosity, cuts and punctures.
Checking the tread pattern
From the tread pattern of the front wheels, for example, you can determine whether wheel alignment needs to be adjusted.
Seizures in the tire tread pattern indicate incorrect toe-in.
A tread that has been eaten on only one side is usually the result of improper camber.
If such abnormal wear is found, the axles should be measured to determine the exact cause (repair work).
Tire tread depth check (incl. spare wheel)
Check the tread depth.
Minimum tread depth: 1.6mm.
Note: This value may vary due to different legal regulations of the respective countries.
Note: The minimum tread depth is reached when a 1.6 mm gauge is inserted in these areas and does not overlap with the tread.
General instructions
The tire pressure rating table is valid for standard tires, all factory fitted sizes.
Attention: For traffic safety reasons, tires of the same model and with the same tread pattern must be installed on the same vehicle.
Attention: All-wheel drive vehicles should only be fitted with tires of the same model and with the same tread pattern. Failure to do so may result in damage to the center differential.
Note: The correct tire pressure for your vehicle model can be found on a sticker affixed to the fuel filler flap on the back or on the B-pillar.
Please note that the tire pressures given in the table are valid for cold tyres. Do not relieve pressure that has increased due to tire heating.
Inflate the tires according to the load.
The spare wheel should be inflated to the maximum pressure specified for the vehicle.
It must be remembered that after any inflation or deflation of any of the wheels of a car with tire pressure indication, it is necessary to perform a basic adjustment.
Note: Winter tires must be 0.2 bar higher.
