Shock absorber malfunctions (VW Golf 1)

There are unmistakable signs of deterioration in the condition of shock absorbers:

• vibrating steering because the wheels do not have constant contact with the ground;
• the body shakes after driving on uneven parts of the road;
• "fuzzy" nature of movement along a curved trajectory, since the wheels inside the curve are not pressed firmly enough to the ground, and the outer wheels are not unloaded strongly enough;
• "jumping wheels" can be observed by a driver's assistant who is driving next to this car;
• due to "jumping wheels" the brake track is interrupted many times during full braking;
• uneven tire wear and increased tire wear;
• on the outside there are significant traces of liquid near the shock absorber and under the support washer of the shock absorber spring. Small liquid leaks are a normal, acceptable phenomenon.
