Throttle damper adjustment
Attention! Only for manual transmission vehicles equipped with 4-cylinder (until 5/93) and 5-cylinder petrol engines (until 12/92)
The throttle valve damper prevents the throttle valve from abruptly closing when the gas pedal is released, as a sudden closing would result in the exhaust of toxic gases due to incomplete combustion of the fuel.
Test condition: Basic throttle setting is OK. This is usually the case, because the limit screw (arrow) installed and sealed at the factory. This screw must never be turned.
Examination
1. Disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose from the intake pipe.
2. Open and close the throttle until the shock absorber tappet (2) will not touch the roller (3).
3. In this position, check the gap between the stop screw (arrow) and throttle lever. To do this, you can use a drill of the appropriate diameter. For required value, see subsection 2.18.8.
Adjustment
1. Clamp a 2.0 mm drill between the stop screw (arrow) and throttle lever (1).
2. Adjust the throttle damper so that the pushrod (2) just touched the roller (3).
