The tank is filled, the mechanical part of the engine is in good condition, the battery is charged, the starter rotates at the set speed, the ignition control and the ignition system are in order, the fuel supply system is completely sealed, contamination of the fuel system is unacceptable, the engine crankcase ventilation is in good order, electrical ground connection (engine-gearbox-body) securely.
Attention! If the fuel lines are to be removed, pre-clean them with a cold cleaner.
Cause | Elimination Method |
Engine won't start | |
Fuse No. 18 defective | Replace fuse |
When the starter is turned on, the electric fuel pump does not work | Check fuel pump |
Faulty fuel pump relay | Check relay |
Sticking injection valves | Check valves, replace if necessary |
Faulty cold start valve | Check cold start valve |
No signals from the following sensors: coolant temperature sensor, throttle potentiometer, Hall sensor, intake pipe pressure sensor | Check wiring. Interrogate the memory of the control unit at the service station |
Cold engine starts but runs unevenly
CO content is not normal | Check CO content and idle |
Faulty cold start valve | Check cold start valve |
Faulty temperature sensor | Check temperature sensor |
Faulty fuel pressure regulator | Check the regulator at the service station |
Warm engine starts poorly, runs unevenly
Leaky cold start valve | Check cold start valve |
Leaky air intake system | Check the suction system: to do this, let the engine idle, lubricate the seals and connections along the entire suction tract with gasoline. If the speed rises, eliminate the place of air leakage |
Leaky vacuum hose to fuel pressure regulator | Check pipeline |
Leaky injection valves | Check injection valves |
Engine stalls | |
The power supply to the fuel pump is intermittently interrupted | Check wiring plug connections at fuel pump and fuel pump relay for tightness. Check fuel pump relay contacts. Clean or replace contacts |
Poor fuel quality, bubble formation | Refuel with quality fuel |
Fuel supply too low | Check feed quantity |
Fuel filter defective | Replace fuel filter |
Faulty fuel pump | Replace fuel pump |
Faulty injection valve | Check injection valves |
Faulty throttle potentiometer | Check potentiometer |
Faulty idle speed control valve | Check the idle speed control valve |
Poor throttle response and unstable engine idle
Leaky air intake system | Check the seal and connections of the suction system |
Faulty idle speed control | Check idle speed control valve and lambda control |
Faulty throttle potentiometer | Check throttle potentiometer |
Hot engine won't start | |
Incorrect CO content | Check CO content and idle |
Too much pressure in the fuel system | Check the fuel pressure at the service station, if necessary, replace the pressure regulator |
Bent or clogged fuel return line between pressure regulator and fuel tank | Clean or replace piping |
Faulty engine temperature sensor | Check temperature sensor |
Leaky fuel system | Visually inspect all connections in the area of the engine and fuel pump. Tighten all connections |
Leaky air intake system | Check the seals and connections in the air intake system |
The engine is running on inertia
Leaky injection valves | Check injection valves |
Leaky cold start valve | Check cold start valve |
