Air filter
1. Air intake duct with adjustable intake air heating flap; 2. Hose to the warm air trap on the exhaust manifold; 3. Filter element; 4. Air filter housing; 5. Rubber washer; 6. Air inlet duct. Pay attention to the installation: the arrows on the air duct and the branch pipe must match.; 7. Potentiometer CO with intake air temperature sensor. Measure the resistance between contacts 2 and 3. See the required value in subsection 2.18.6; 8. Ring; 9. CO adjustment screw; 10. Cork; 11. Connecting plug; 12. Temperature controller. Installation location: the connecting tube made of bronze or with a notch is located on top; 13. Air filter housing; 14. Air flow guide; A – Air hose for connecting the intake air duct and the idle speed control valve; B - Vacuum hose to the branch of the vacuum line between the throttle valve pipe and the car interior. Only available in cars equipped with M
Air heating is regulated by an air damper in the air intake pipe and depends on the temperature. If the air heating is faulty, the following malfunctions may occur:
- low idle speed during warm-up phase;
- poor throttle response;
- insufficient power, maximum speed not reached;
- high fuel consumption.
1. Check the reliability of the fastening of the vacuum hoses from the vacuum regulator to the temperature regulator and from the temperature regulator to the throttle valve pipe.
2. Check the hoses by bending them for cuts and porosity; replace if necessary.
3. Remove the air filter housing and take out the filter element.

4. Check the position and ease of movement of the adjustment flap in the air filter housing by touch or using mirrors. The adjustment flap must close the warm air channel (1).
5. Remove the vacuum hose from the temperature controller and connect a hand vacuum pump.

6. Create a vacuum with the pump and check the operation and ease of movement of the control flap. The flap should close the cold air pipe (2) (see fig. in p. 4).
7. Start the engine and let it idle.
8. Place the vacuum hose (3) onto the bronze or knurled connecting tube and check the temperature regulator (see fig. in p. 4).
Attention! When the engine is running, the position of the control valve begins to depend on the heating of the temperature regulator after at least 20 seconds:
- below 20°C: temperature regulator open, cold air duct closed;
- above 30°C: temperature regulator closed, warm air duct closed;
- between 20–30°C: cold and warm air vents open.
9. Install the filter element into the air filter housing.
10. Install the air filter.
