Checking the throttle damper (VW Passat B4)

Open the throttle valve. Make sure that when the throttle valve is closed, the damper rod 2 enters its housing under the action of lever 1 (Fig. 2-67).



Check the gap between lever 1 and rod 2, which should be within 4.0-4.5 mm.

If the clearance does not correspond to the specified limits, loosen nut 4 and turn damper housing 3 away from the lever so that lever 1 barely touches the plunger. Turn the damper housing 4 ¼ turns toward the lever and tighten nut 4.
