The following are workflows where you come into contact with brake fluid. Therefore, we give several safety instructions.
Brake fluid is poisonous and should not be ingested or on open wounds.
Brake fluid is harmful to painted surfaces. For this reason, cloths soaked in brake fluid or tools should not be placed on the bodywork. containing the remains of this liquid.
When disconnecting the brake hose or brake line, the reservoir is gradually emptied. This can be prevented. Before loosening the screw connection, unscrew the bleeder valve in the respective brake circuit. Put on the bleeder hose and keep it in a container with brake fluid. Now fully depress the brake pedal and use a suitable piece of wood to secure it in this position. This closes the inlet openings in the master brake cylinder: brake fluid can no longer leak out.
A special wrench 10x11 is required to loosen and tighten the nuts of the brake pipes (e.g. N 05 202) for brake lines. For brake hoses, an open wrench SW 14 is sufficient.
After performing all work with the brake system, it is necessary to bleed the entire system, see below. Often it is enough to pump only the circuit where the work was performed.
