Remove the handbrake lever cover.
Unscrew the locknuts and adjusting nuts of the brake cables.
Remove the brake drum (see section "Removing the brake drum"). Remove the brake shoes and remove the handbrake cable.
Remove the clamp near the rear axle and the locking plate from the guide tube at the bottom of the car.
Move the new rod towards the handbrake lever.
Lubricate the input point of the rod at the guide tube with waterproof grease.
Adjust the handbrake.
