Self-adjusting drum brake model produced after August 1978: 1 - wheel brake cylinder; 2 - brake lining; 3 - tension spring with adjusting wedge; 4 - lower tension spring; 5 - handbrake lever; 6 - pressure spring; 7 - brake shoe.
Remove the brake drum as described above.
Pull out the large retaining spring on the side near the brake shoe. You will need combination pliers for this.
The spring should be held with the other hand, since it is under tension.
Remove the flat springs near the pads.
Remove the flat springs at the bottom.
Remove the brake pads from the lower support and from the slots in the brake cylinder piston.
When installing, you need to loosen the handbrake cable when the brake pads are not yet installed.
Brake shoe fasteners (2): 1 - support spring; 3 - tension spring of the adjusting wedge (4); 5 - upper tension spring; 6 - push rod; 7 - retainer; 8 - lower tension spring; 9 - pressure spring
