Verification conditions
Absolutely flat horizontal surface.
Empty vehicle weight (with spare wheel).
Prescribed tire pressure.
Properly installed springs.
The absence of unacceptable play in the steering rods.
The absence of unacceptable play in the wheel suspension.
Examination
Put the front wheels straight.
Install the template in front of the front wheels.
(44-123) Place the gauge pins in front of the rim flanges of both front wheels. Set the indicator scale to "0", and mark the place of measurement on the wheel with chalk.
Roll the car forward half a wheel turn.
(44-128) attach the template to the edges of the rims at the marked place, read the instrument reading.
Adjustment
(44-117) bring the steering gear to the middle position. To do this, rotate the steering wheel from lock to lock and count the turns. Then rotate the steering wheel in the opposite direction to half a turn. Using the protrusion on the rubber washer and the slots in the casing, align the steering shaft accurately. The protrusion and the slot must match.
(44-119) Loosen the lock nut, retighten both tie rods until the nominal value is reached. Rated values are shown in the table below.
Attention! The steering must remain in the middle position.
After re-twisting the tie rods, make sure that the bellows are in the normal position to prevent their rapid wear.
Roll the car forward or do a road test. The steering must be in the middle position. If necessary, turn both tie rods again until the steering remains in the center position.
