A thickening is pressed into the landing shelf of the rim, which prevents, even with difficult driving, squeezing the tubeless chamber by the rim.
Attention! If light metal wheels are mounted, longer bolts are generally needed. Never confuse the wheel bolts, otherwise the brakes will be damaged.
Wheel balancing
Serial wheels are balanced at the factory.
Unbalance can cause damage to the axle bearings and cause the vehicle to wobble.
Wheels must be given for balancing every 15,000 km and after tire repair, because. during wear and after repairs, the mass distribution in the tire area changes.
Wheel replacement
Changing wheels without special need is not recommended, because. with frequent dismantling and installation of wheels (in practice, often without a torque wrench and thus without ensuring a uniform and secure tightening of the bolts) damage to the brake drums may occur. It is recommended to operate the vehicle for as long as the front wheels do not approach the wear limit. Then:
- put two new tires or one new tire in front and mount the spare wheel.
- put two best old tires in the back (while respecting the old direction of rotation).
It is impractical to change the direction of rotation of the tires when replacing wheels, because. they are fitted to a new direction only when heavily worn.
Attention! The tightening torque for all wheel bolts and nuts is 180 Nm.
Tire wear
Tires with balanced wheels will wear if the prescribed pressure is maintained conscientiously and if the wheels and shock absorbers are correctly installed, almost evenly over the entire tread. Nothing definite can be said about the service life of tires of a particular brand, because. it depends on various factors:
- type of road surface
- tire pressure
- driving style
- weather
A sporty way of driving, quick starts and hard braking lead to rapid wear.
Attention! The law prescribes that tires can only be used up to a profile depth of 1.6 mm. However, for safety reasons, it is recommended to change tires already at a profile depth of 2 mm.
Excessive tire wear
Uneven tire wear is primarily a consequence of too low or too high tire pressure, as well as errors in the installation of wheels and their balancing, failure of shock absorbers, revs or brake drums.
First of all, you need to pay attention to maintaining the prescribed pressure of 8 tires, and you need to check it at least once a month.
Attention! Pressure should be checked with cold tires. Air pressure rises when they heat up during fast driving. But it would be completely wrong to release air from hot tires.
If the pressure is too high, the middle of the tread wears out more.
If the pressure is too low, the tread edges wear out more.
Incorrect wheel alignment and imbalance lead to a characteristic wear pattern, as indicated in the tire failure table.
Anti-skid chains
In all models, only chains with small links that protrude on the tread and on the inside of the tire by at least 15 mm can be used. It is better to use chains recommended by the company "Volkswagen". The speed of movement with chains should not exceed 40 km / h. On roads without snow and ice, they must be removed, because. they wear out quickly.
Tire pressure
When using winter tires, the pressure must be increased by 0.2 bar.
Attention! Technological development moves on. For older models, other tire pressures or combinations may be acceptable. The defining measure is the documents for the car.
