Poor sealing of the end face of the guide rod rubber-metal bearings can lead to premature wear. Visual inspection can determine whether the bearing is in good condition or needs to be replaced.
Examination
(40-1027) The bolt head and nut washer must be centered in the bearing. If the bolt head or nut washer touches the thrust washer (arrow), the wear limit has been reached and the bearing must be replaced.
Dismantling
Loosen the wheel bolts, put the car on jack stands, and remove the wheel.
Remove the upper axle joint mounting bolts and carefully tilt the steering knuckle to the side.

Pull out the kingpin of the guide rod and remove the rod. Installation
Install the guide rod, lubricate the kingpin with universal oil and install it correctly.
(40-638) the chamfer should be located vertically towards the middle of the car, the larger gap of the eccentric washer should be downwards.
Tighten the guide rod bolts to 60 Nm.
Screw on the wheel, lower the bus, tighten the wheel bolts crosswise to a torque of 180 Nm.
Adjust wheel alignment.
