- 16 - Balance shaft
- 17 - Thermostat
- 18 - Centering pin
- 19 - Fitting
- 20 - Bolt, 9 Nm
- 21 - O-ring round section, replace
Coolant Pump - Bolt Tightening Sequence
Tighten the bolts in the sequence -1...5-, 9 Nm.
Removal and installation the cooling system pump
Remove the small coolant pipe. Remove the toothed belt of the coolant pump. Disconnect the electrical connector "1" of the throttle control module "J338". Unscrew the bolts "arrows" and remove the throttle control module "J338".
Disconnect electrical connector "1" of coolant temperature sensor "G62".
Unscrew bolts 1...5. Remove the cooling system pump from the centering pin and from the oil cooler.
Installation
Instructions: Replace the gasket sealing rings.
Lubricate the sealing rings "4" with coolant. Check whether both centering pins are inserted into the cylinder block; insert if necessary. Insert the connecting element "2" into the oil cooler "1". Place the coolant pump "3" on the connecting element and on the centering pins in the cylinder block.
Tighten the bolts in sequence -1...5-.
Instructions: When installing a new cooling system pump, remove the protective cap "arrow".
Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Removal and installation the coolant pump toothed belt
Remove the small coolant pipe. Release the coolant hose "2" and the wiring harness "1". Unscrew the bolt "arrow" and remove the holder.
Unscrew bolt "2" on the coolant recovery pump bracket "V51".
Remove coolant hoses -1 and 2-. Remove the front part of the right mudguard.
Unscrew the "arrow" bolts. Remove the air duct, for this lift the brackets -1 and 2-.
Remove the intake manifold flap valve "N316" "2".
Unscrew the arrow bolts and remove the timing belt cover.
Caution: The drive sprocket bolt has left-hand threads.
Loosen the bolt on the drive sprocket "1" of the coolant pump using the torque wrench -VAG 1331- and the "T10360" attachment clockwise, while holding the torsional vibration damper. Remove the drive sprocket "1" and the toothed belt "2".
Installation is carried out in the reverse order, observing the following: Replace the drive sprocket bolt. Replace the sealing rings and gaskets. Mounting position of the drive sprocket: the flange of the drive sprocket faces the gearbox.
