Operating principle

All opening and closing functions of the glass panel sliding and tilting sunroof are performed with the ignition on.

After the ignition is switched off, the sunroof can be operated until the front left or front right door is opened.

Using the rotary switch, the longitudinal 2 and vertical 3 positions of the opening of the glass panel of the hatch are preset (Fig. 1.21).

The article is published on this resource: www.VWmanual.ru

The rotary switch is marked to indicate the desired shift and lift of the sunroof glass panel.

Opening the sliding/tilting sunroof in the so-called comfort position 1 provides maximum protection against extraneous noises that may occur when the sunroof is fully open in switch position 2.

Pre-selection automatic switch

The lift and slide sunroof is equipped with a closing force limiter. If an obstacle is encountered while opening or closing from the lift or slide position, the glass panel moves in the opposite direction.

Additionally, the hatch is equipped with an emergency closing function. In case of a problem with closing the hatch with a glass panel, it can be closed forcibly by pressing the switch, which for this purpose must be in the position "Schiebedach geschlossen/Hatch closed" 4.

When the hatch closes in an emergency, the force limiter is switched off.

The glass panel lift/slide sunroof drive is protected against overheating by a running time limiter. The safety mechanism is activated after approximately 2 minutes of continuous use of the sunroof drive. After a cooling phase, the sunroof drive is activated again.

If there is no voltage in the on-board network, the sliding and lifting sunroof can be opened or closed using a standard Allen key "4".
