Location of screws in the lower steering column cover

Removal
1. Turn off the ignition and remove the ground cable from the battery.
2. Remove the airbag from the center of the steering wheel.
3. Set the steering wheel to move straight ahead.

4. Unscrew the central mounting bolt (2) of the steering wheel (1) and remove the steering wheel.
5. Remove the two screws from the lower steering column cover, see Fig. Location of screws in the lower steering column cover.
6. Remove the upper cover (1) of the steering column, see Fig. Location of screws in the lower cover of the steering column.
7. Remove the four screws securing the lower steering column cover, see Fig. Location of the lower steering column cover screws.
8. Using a hex key, remove the screw (1), see Fig. Location of the lower steering column cover mounting screws.
9. Remove the lower steering column cover.
Loosen the bolt securing the multifunction switches on the steering column.
10. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the multifunction switches. Note that the coil spring remains on the steering column multifunction switch, so do not rotate the spring from the center position when removing it.
11. Remove the multifunction switches.
Installation
Installing a multi-function switch

- 1 - steering wheel,
- 2 - multifunctional switch,
- 3 - switch mounting bolt,
- a = 3 mm
1. Install the multifunction switch onto the steering column, but do not tighten the multifunction switch mounting bolt at this stage.
2. Install the steering wheel.
3. Move and set the multi-function switch (2) to a position where the distance (a) between the steering wheel (1) and the multi-function switch is 3 mm, see Fig. Installing the multi-function switch.
4. Remove the steering wheel and install the lower and upper steering column covers.
5. Install the steering wheel.
6. Install the airbag into the center of the steering wheel.
7. Connect the ground wire to the battery.
