Removal and installation the door lock (VW Passat B3)

• 1 - door handle

For cars with additional comfort control (central locking system, electric windows) the trim must first be removed and the plug connector disconnected. The free travel of the door handle is reduced by turning the compensating element.

• 2 — lock cylinder

Turn the lock cylinder with the key inserted 180° and remove it from the door handle. Before installation, treat the lock cylinder with VW-G-000400 grease.

• 3 - sealing ring

• 6 - retaining ring
• 7 - lining

To remove, turn 90°

• 8 — bracket
• 9 - compensation element

By turning the element, the free play of the door handle is reduced. The gap between the compensation element and the door lock drive lever is 0-2 mm. The adjustment is performed with the door handle removed or from inside the door with the interior trim removed.

• 10 — screw, 7 Nm
• 11 — retainer

The retainer is screwed on.

• 12 — retainer rod
• 13 - door lock
• 14 - locking pin, 50 Nm
• 15 - disc spring

Install so that the protruding part faces outward. 8 Otherwise, the varnish coating may be damaged.

• 16 - plastic washer
• 17 - countersunk head screw, 20 Nm
• 18 - traction

Hang on the internal door lock drive from bottom to top.

• 19 — clamp
• 20 — internal door lock drive

Removal

Close the door window.

Remove the door lock mounting screws.



Pull the door lock slightly and use screwdriver "B" to lock the drive lever "A" from below.

Note: On cars with central locking, the lock only has a small hole through which a 3 mm pin must be inserted into the lock instead of a screwdriver. In addition, on the rear doors, the recess is covered by the child restraint switch, here the screwdriver must be inserted from the side.

Remove the locking sleeve from the lock.

Tilt the door lock outward and pull it out.

Installation

Turn the door lock drive lever 90° (1/4 turn) and secure it with a screwdriver through the mounting hole.

Check the free travel of the door handle. The prescribed free travel value is 0-2 mm. If necessary, reduce the free travel of the door handle by turning the compensating element.

Insert the lock with the seal into the locking sleeve and tighten to a torque of 20 Nm.
