Golf cars
Removal
1 Open the tailgate and remove the cover from the boot floor.
2 Remove the trim from below by pushing it in the direction of arrow A (see illustration).
3 Detach the trim from the sides, releasing it from the fastenings 1 and 2 on the rear tailgate frame (see illustration 23.2).
4 Feed the lining upwards (see arrow B in illustration 23.2) and remove it from under the rear hatch seal.
Installation
5 Make sure that the trim clips are not damaged and are seated correctly on the trim. If necessary, replace damaged clips with new ones.

The installation of the trim is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Make sure that the trim goes under the rear hatch seal.
Jetta cars
Removing and installing the trim is the same as for Golf cars. First, unscrew the two fasteners from the threaded pins on the rear wall. Unlike Golf cars, the trim on Jetta cars is not attached to the sides.
