Removal



Caution: Before starting work, read the safety precautions regarding handling airbags.


1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal first, then the positive (+) battery terminal to avoid possible airbag deployment. Wrap the negative battery terminal with insulating tape.

2. Remove cover 1 with the inscription "Airbag" from the trim and unscrew screw 2 (see illustration).

Attention! When removed, cover 1 with the inscription "Airbag" is damaged and must be replaced with a new one.


3. Slide the plastic wedge under the trim and release the clips 3 from the holes on the front pillar (see arrow A in Illustration 16.2).

4. Release the pillar trim from the door seal.

5. Release the front end of the trim (see arrow B in Illustration 16.2) and remove its back part from the dashboard (see arrow C).

Installation



6. Make sure that the trim fasteners are not damaged and are installed correctly. If necessary, renew the fasteners.

The installation of the pillar trim is carried out in the reverse order of removal.



At the same time, make sure that the trim fits tightly under the door seal.

7. Screw in screw 2 with a tightening torque of 2 Nm (see illustration 16.2).

Middle part of the cladding

8. Remove the side cover from the instrument panel.

9. Disconnect the middle part of the pillar trim from the upper part by releasing the retaining clip.

10. Disconnect the middle part of the trim from the lower part and remove it from the front pillar.

The installation of the middle part of the pillar trim is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

Make sure that the trim fits tightly under the door seal. Reinstall the noise-reducing gasket that has fallen out.

11. Disconnect the threshold trim from the lower part of the front pillar trim at their joint.

12. Remove the middle part of the pillar trim.

13. Front pillar, driver's side.

Remove bonnet release lever 1, see relevant chapter (see illustration).

14. Front pillar, driver's side.

Remove the expansion clamp 2 from the trim (see illustration 16.13).

15. Pull the pillar trim towards the interior (see arrow A in illustration 16.13) and release it from under the door seal.


16. Release the trim from the fastening by moving it in the direction of arrow B (see illustration 16.13) and remove it from the stand.

Installation



17. Make sure that the expansion clamp 2 (see illustration 16.13) not damaged.

The installation of the lower part of the front pillar trim is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

Make sure the trim fits snugly under the door seal.
