Four-door Golf cars
1. Remove the rear seat.
2. Remove the armrests.
3. Remove an overlay in salon above a wheel niche.
4. Insert a plastic wedge under the front of the door sill trim 4, release its back side from the fasteners, and then slide the front edge of the trim out of the door seal.
5. Release guide 1 of the door sill lining from the lower part of the facing of the central pillar (see illustration).
6. Detach the back of trim 4 from the door sill and release it from the door seal (see illustration 15.5).
7. Release guide 2 of the sill lining from the bottom of the facing of the central pillar (see illustration 15.5).
8. Remove trim 3 and pull out seat belt 5 (see illustration 15.5).
9. Remove an overlay from a door threshold.
10. Check that the pad retainers are intact and properly installed. Update the fasteners if necessary.
The door sill trim is installed in the reverse order of removal.
At the same time, make sure that the latches exactly go into the mounting holes, and the ends of the lining are tightly closed by the door seal.
Two-door cars
11. Remove the rear seat.
12. Release the door sill from the mountings on the threshold and side upholstery of the passenger compartment, as well as from the door seal.
