Instrument panel — removal and installation (VW Golf 5)

Removal. Touran cars



1. Disconnect the battery.

Warning: Read the safety precautions for handling the airbag.


2. Remove the airbag unit from the steering wheel.

3. Remove the steering wheel.

4. Remove the steering column trim.

5. Remove the instrument panel.

6. Remove the decorative trims from the instrument panel using a plastic wedge.

7. Remove the front section of the center console.

8. Remove the side covers from the instrument panel.

9. Remove the glove box.

Caution: Before disconnecting the passenger airbag connector, remove any possible static electricity by touching the door lock or the vehicle body.


10. Disconnect the passenger airbag connector.

11. Remove the two bolts at the bottom and remove the front passenger airbag unit from the instrument panel.

12. Remove the radio receiver and heater switch block cover.

13. Remove the central air vent.

14. Remove the speakers from the instrument panel.

15. Remove the lower instrument panel trim in the opening on the driver's side.

16. Remove the trim from the front pillar.

17. Remove the heater/air conditioner switch assembly

18. Remove the radio/navigation unit.

19. Remove the four bolts and remove the heater/air conditioning and radio/navigation switch assembly support frame from the mounting compartment.

20. Remove the two bolts from the interior mounting compartment on the center console.

21. Disconnect the right and left air ducts from the side deflectors of the passenger compartment.

22. Unscrew one screw under the left deflector and two screws under the right one.



23. Release the instrument panel from the support frame and from the fastenings near the windshield and, working with an assistant, remove it and pull it out of the passenger compartment.

The instrument panel is installed in the reverse order of removal.

Caution! There must be no passengers in the vehicle when connecting the battery.
