Removal the poly V-belt of 1.4-I engines (VW Golf 4)

Poly V-belt location on models without air conditioning

• 1 - crankshaft;
• 2 - tension roller;
• 3 - generator;
• 4 - poly V-belt;
• 5 - servo pump

Poly V-belt location on models with air conditioning (double sided ribbed belt)

• 1 - servo pump;
• 2 - guide roller;
• 3 - generator;
• 4 - air conditioning compressor;
• 5 - crankshaft;
• 6 - tension roller

Execution order

1. Remove the lower engine compartment splash shield.

2. If the belt is to be reinstalled, use a marker or paint to mark the direction of belt rotation.



3. Loosen the tension and remove the poly V-belt. To loosen the poly V-belt, turn the central bolt (indicated by the arrow) tension roller clockwise.
