Adjustment with a special device
Remove the ignition distributor cap, slider, sealing washer.
Connect the device for measuring UZSK according to the operating instructions. Slightly loosen the screws on the breaker contacts. Turn on the starter (helper, transmission in neutral). When the starter is running, change the distance between the contacts with a screwdriver to achieve the specified values on the scale of the device. When adjusting the gap with a screwdriver, the lower contact of the breaker is slowly displaced.
Tighten the locking screw of the breaker contact and check if the adjustment of the UZSK has gone astray.
Assemble the ignition distributor and recheck the UZSK adjustment with the engine running.
Adjust the ignition timing, see section «Ignition timing adjustment».
Adjustment of the UZSK interrupter using a set of probes
In the absence of a special device for measuring the closing angle, it is possible to temporarily adjust the closing angle of the breaker contacts using a set of probes. After that, as soon as possible, it is necessary to carry out adjustment using a special device.
Remove the ignition distributor cap, slider, sealing washer.
Turn the crankshaft behind the crankshaft belt pulley until the distributor shaft cam opens the breaker contact to full height, and the plastic slider is adjacent to the highest point of the shaft cam. The ignition distributor shaft can be turned by turning on the starter for a short time. After that, slightly loosen the breaker contact and press the contact with a screwdriver in the direction of the ignition distributor shaft. Tighten the breaker contact.
With the contact open, measure the distance between the contacts with a 0.4 mm probe. With a correctly adjusted distance, the probe should fit between the contacts with an interference fit. With burnt contacts, measure only along the edge - in the middle, the distance would be increased due to erosive protrusions and depressions.
If the distance between the contacts is too large or too small, slightly loosen the stop screw of the breaker contact. Use a screwdriver to move the bottom of the breaker contact until the probe can be easily passed between the contacts.
Tighten the stop screw of the breaker contact.
Turn the crankshaft and thus the ignition distributor shaft until the breaker contact is completely open; check again and, if necessary, adjust the distance between the contacts.
Place the sealing washer, slider and cover on the ignition distributor.
Adjust ignition timing.
