1. In models with 18L engines, the clutch is self-adjusting with the toothed segment 7a and the locking element 7b, secured to the clutch cable near the pedal (Fig. 5.5). Here, adjustment is only necessary after disconnecting the cable or after replacing it. Adjustment is made after connecting the cable by pressing the clutch pedal several times.

2. In all other models, adjustment was made manually after installing a new cable or with a large pedal gap.

3. The value of the clutch pedal free play can be found in the technical data. To adjust the clutch pedal free play, apply the cable to the clutch pedal. Move the pedal until you feel a noticeable resistance - this is the free play, see figure (figure 5.4).

If this distance does not correspond to the adjustment data, it is necessary to adjust the cable as follows.

4. If a very large free travel of the clutch pedal is detected, the cable must be shortened at the location marked with number 18, see Figure 5.4.

To do this, you need to unscrew the lock nut 16 near the bracket 14.

Then, holding the threaded end of the cable, tighten the adjusting nut 17, thereby reducing the length of the cable. To make it easier, you can bend the lever 3. If it is difficult to turn the nut, you need to hold the cable with a key or pliers.

5. Before the final adjustment check, it is necessary to ensure that bushings 15 are correctly seated in the sockets of bracket 14 and lever 3.

6. After the adjustment has been made, it is necessary to tighten the lock nut 16.

7. Loosen the safety nut 10 of the metal cable guard 9 near the gearbox bracket, then, while locking the metal cable guard, rotate the toothed adjusting roller until the pedal clearance becomes normal.

8. Press the pedal fully several times, check the adjustment, then tighten the safety nut 10. Lubricate the exposed part of the clutch cable with a small amount of universal grease.
