Fuel Injected Engine — Extraction (VW Golf 2)

In fuel-injected models, the method for removing the engine is the same as described in the previous paragraph. The only difference is that no attention is paid to disconnecting the carburetor and related parts. However, the components of the gasoline injection system equipment must be disconnected.

1. Disconnect the elastic hoses from the heating valve (green cube).

2. Disconnect the wire harness from the cold start valve (blue cube).

3. Disconnect the pipes from the additional air valve.

4. Disconnect the throttle cable, but do not remove the safety clip.

5. Remove the cold start valve but leave the fuel lines connected. Hang them on their side.

6. Disconnect the air intake pipe attached to the throttle body.

7. Disconnect the low pressure pipes from the drive manifold and vacuum auxiliary equipment.

8. Leaving the fuel pipes connected, unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the preheating valve from the cylinder block. Set it aside.

9. Unscrew the injectors from the engine head and plug the holes. Disconnect the injector wires from the bracket mounted on the throttle body and put them aside.

10. Disconnect the low-pressure pipes from the tee on the throttle body near the engine chamber bulkhead. Set the elastic pipes aside.

11. Disconnect the wire from the oil temperature sensor.

12. When removing the engine and gearbox, it is necessary to act carefully when maneuvering the unit so as not to damage the engine equipment. The drive unit should first be moved forward, then turned and lifted.
