Installing the engine in a car (VW Golf 2)

When installing the engine and gearbox, follow the reverse sequence of removing the engine from the vehicle. Please note the following:

a) When lowering the unit into the engine chamber, care must be taken not to bend the drive axle shafts or damage the body elements.

b) First, tighten the engine mount brackets loosely and tighten them only when the engine is seated evenly and does not cause lateral stress in the engine mount cushions.

c) Adjust the clutch cable (manual transmission).

d) On models with automatic transmission, adjust the throttle cables and gear selector cables.

d) Connect and, if necessary, adjust the selector rod assembly and gear change mechanism in models with a manual transmission.

e) Adjust the gas cable and where there is a cable for the starting equipment flap.

g) Fill the cooling system with liquid.

c) Fill or top up the engine oil level.
