1.4L AXU petrol engine with direct fuel injection (VW Polo 4)

1 - wire guide, 8 Nm

2 - bolts, 10 Nm

3 — bolt, 10 Nm + 90° (¼ turn) in tightening direction

4 - bolts, 8 Nm

5 - hose to the air filter

6 - Hall sensor

7 - sealing ring
Replace if damaged.

8 — bracket

9 - stud, 6 Nm
For air filter housing.

10 — cylinder head mounting bolt
Always replace the bolt with a new one.



Tighten the cylinder head bolts in three stages. In each stage, tighten the bolts in sequence from 1 to 10.


Reception 1: 30 Nm.
Step 2: Tighten in the tightening direction by 90 (¼ turn).
Step 3: Tighten in the tightening direction by 90 (¼ turn).

11 - push lever with roller
Check the roller bearing for ease of movement. Lubricate the working surface. When installing, secure it to the compensating support element using a locking bracket.

12 - support element
Do not change places during installation. Lubricate the working surface.

13 - guide pins

14 - hydraulic switch, 25 Nm
At a pressure of 0.3-0.7 bar.
If a leak is detected, cut the sealing ring and replace it.

15 — cylinder head
The flatness should not exceed 0.05 mm. The minimum permissible height is 108.25 mm. After replacement, change all coolant.

16 — cylinder head gasket

19 — bolt, 20 Nm

20 — camshaft housing
Remove any remaining old sealant.



Before installation, apply VW-Dl 88003A1 sealant in a thin layer and evenly onto the clean sealing surface of the camshaft housing (highlighted in gray). When installing, carefully place it on the studs and guide pins using a vertical movement from top to bottom.


21 - plate pusher
Grease the work surface.

22 — sealing ring
Always replace. Lubricate with engine oil before installation.

23 - high pressure pump
For fuel supply. With built-in valve for regulating fuel pressure.
