At a certain temperature, the switch contact closes the current circuit of the radiator fan. The fan starts to work.
Be careful when working with the engine: if it is in a hot state, the fan may suddenly start!
Various connection options
The following connection options are available for the radiator fan, which are listed in the table.
Instruction. Starting from August 1978, a different thermostatic switch is used for the radiator fan. This thermostatic switch is screwed into the thermostat housing. For distinction, the switch, installed since August 1978, is indicated by the numbers 90/95. It cannot be installed in older diesel models "Golf".
To the left of the radiator (1) thermal switch placed (2) radiator fan. If the switch fails. what happens with older cars, pull both connectors (3 and 4) and insert both contacts one into the other. If your machine has a double plug on the thermal switch, then the contacts are connected with a piece of wire
If someone wishes to check without great expense. is the radiator fan running? (with a hot engine), it should act as follows: let the warm engine idle, observe the temperature readings. The fan must start running before the pointer moves all the way to the right or the signal light comes on, otherwise the thermostat in the radiator is faulty.
